Ever since its inception, the students of Southern School of Music has been taught by some of the finest teachers of the city


Mr. Sujit Sarkar

Started learning piano at a very young age, under the guidance of eminent pianist, Mr. Tony Meneziz. Later on, started taking lesson from Mr. Sam F. Engineer, FTCL. He remained very close to him as a student, till his last. Presently, Mr. sarkar is working as the head piano and electronic keyboard teacher of this institute, and also as the Principal. Mr. Sarkar holds a vast teaching experience of 27 years and still counting. He also worked as a regular performer for a short span of time. He came in touch with eminent musicians and famous musical personalities of this city and this country as well. To name a few would be eminent violinists Prof. Joseph Naskar & Mr. Stanley Gomes, celebrated pianist Mr. Baby Meneziz and three of our nation's greatest composers, Mr. Salil Chowdhury, Mr Abhijit Bandopadhyay & Mr. Ajit Verman.


Mr. Gopal Sarkar

Started learning vioin under the guidance of a very famous teacher, Mr. Sisir Chatterjee, for a short span of time at an early age. Later on, he started taking lessons from one of this city's celebrated and eminent violinist & teacher, Mr. Ananta Makhal at the Oxford Mission, Behala, till his last . Mr. Sarkar had the experience of playing at several orchestras. He started teaching violin at the institute since its inception. Along with this, he also started to teach guitar from the year 1998 at this very institute. Presently, he is working as the head violin and guitar teacher, in this institute with a teaching experience of over 25 years.


Mr. Pramit Sarkar, DipABRSM

Started learning both piano and violin, at the tender age of four, under the guidance of Mr. Sujit Sarkar and Mr. Gopal Sarkar respectively.Apart from them, he also went to several teachers and other musical personalities, for masterclasses, during the course of his learning. To name a few, will be Mr. Sam F. Engineer, Mrs. Fauzia Marikar, Mr. Ananta Makhal, etc. He completed his Grade 8 in Violin (2010) and in Piano (2012). Presently, he is working as an associate teacher of piano and violin, and also as the teacher of Music Theory, in this Institution.


Mr. Santanu Basak

Started learning piano under the guidance of Mr. Sujit Sarkar. He is one of Mr. Sarkar's best students, as stated by Mr. Sarkar himself. Presently, he is working as an associate teacher of piano and electronic keyboard , in this institute.
